Beautiful walk crossing the river several times, a natural pool created by the waterfall after walking 45 min to 1 hour. This magical place will make you feel energetic! With the strong water coming down the waterfall and nice rock formations, you will love Huacamaillo.
The diversity of the landscape in this part of the amazon promise you a relaxing time. You will need good hiking shoes and clothes to change -you will get wet because you need to cross the river several times.
How to get to Huacamaillo
To get to this waterfall, you need to go to San Pedro de Cumbaza, a nice little jungle town. For this you just need to go to the “paradero” in Jirón Comandante Chirinos block 3, almost at the corner with Jirón Lima, near the local market #2 and local market Huequito.
Our hostel is only 3 streets away from that paradero. Then, you would pay 5 soles from Tarapoto, they leave you at the entrance of the park. It will be a walk of 1 – 1,5 hour to the waterfall. You can choose the crossing river part or going up the hill (aka. emergency road).
Another advice: if the river water is high, take the emergency road to the waterfall.
